The picture was taken by Andor Sugár during his second study trip to Italy in 1937. By this time, his painting style had already developed: the artist created the painting in the style of neo-realism, with its expressive use of colour. He used broad brushstrokes to apply his colours, depicting nature as a magnificent living world. He saw the mountainside or the meadow as equally beautiful, but he also depicted the product of man, such as the city, with a special reverence.
