About

Irma Berki was a student of Vaszary at the college. In her landscapes from the turn of the twenties and thirties, Berki uses oil in a very pastel way, laying out her landscapes in a carpet-like manner, building up from larger patches of colour and concentrating on the problems of light. She does not detail the colours of the criss-crossing shadows and streaks of light, but arranges them in patches on the support and composes them into the composition. 'The dream sways these colours!', a contemporary critic wrote sensuously.
