István Zichy

Biography

From 1897, he studied at the Budapest Academy of Fine Arts, and from 1898 in Munich. In 1900 he went to Paris where he studied at the Julian Academy, in 1901 he worked in Nagybánya. From 1907 he worked in Gödöllő. He worked with graphics and created carpet designs, which were executed by the workshop in Gödöllő. His frescoes can be seen at the Budapest Academy of Music. Between 1913-1919 he managed the Historical Picture Gallery, in 1917 he went on a study trip to Vienna and Germany. During the Hungarian Soviet Republic, he participated in the counter-revolutionary organization in Vienna.
