Biography

Painter Antal Lóránd was born in Budapest in 1903. He began his art studies in Berlin and Dresden in 1921, and then graduated from the Budapest Academy of Fine Arts between 1922 and 1927. From 1928 he worked alongside Ákos Benkhardt as a founding member of the Miskolc Art Colony. He was a scholarship holder in Rome in 1935-36. He has been an exhibiting artist since 1928. In 1932 he participated in the 18th Venice Biennale with his painting Motherhood. Between 1938-1949 he taught drawing, then became an employee of the Ministry of Education. From 1957 he returned to teaching and participated in the art colony of drawing teachers in Szada. His significant works are preserved in the Hungarian National Gallery.
