Biography

He began his studies in Budapest, at the Benczúr Master School, and then studied in Paris and Italy. From 1906 he spent his summers in Szolnok, where he became a member of the artists' colony, and in the other seasons he was a participant in the artistic life of the capital. His works, including portraits, nudes and interior designs, were exhibited at several exhibitions, he worked on illustrations and designed headlines and endpapers for the magazine Művészet. In 1910 he became a member of the Reform Masonic Lodge. In 1910, he had a collective exhibition of his portraits at the National Salon and married in the same year. In 1911 he became a member of the Kecskemét Artists' Association. His style mixes the strong colours of the Impressionists with a more constrained formal style. His exhibition in the Kunsthalle in Vienna was a permanent one. His impressionistic presentation was combined with decorative colour and generous simplification in his paintings.
