Stefánia Mándy: Lajos Vajda 1983. (Oeuvre 1928/6)
In the fall of 1927, Vajda enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest, where he was able to work under the guidance of István Csók, who supported experimentation and independent path-finding as a result of Károly Lyka's educational reform. At the University, he made friends with Béla Hegedűs, Dezső Korniss, Sándor Trauner, György Kepes, Ernő Schubert, with whom they started visiting Lajos Kassák's Work Circle.
The sketch was made before Vajda's years in Paris, under the influence of the Russian avant-garde and constructivism.
