About

Sassy's favourite technique was pastel, which was the perfect way to depict his own imaginative world. The imagery in Woman with Birds is obviously symbolic. The tragic expressions of the women's transfixed, glowing faces, the lighting effect, which exemplifies the optical phenomenon of white light through a prism revealing the colours of the rainbow, the musicality of the image and the vertically elongated linework all suggest this transcendent world.
