About

Detre visited Paris several times before settling there permanently in 1927. He was an active participant in the Hungarian community there, which consisted mainly of artists and intellectuals. In his graphics, the familiar 'Parisian themes' appear: the circus, the theatre or the night bars and dancers, naked women, the street people. He was influenced by the art of Thoulouse-Latrec and Marcell Vértes.
