Biography

Erzsébet Lóránt studied at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts as a student of Oszkár Glatz and István Csók. She became a member of the New Eight women's artist group, which was formed in 1931 and created in a progressive modernist spirit against the prevailing conservatism in Hungary. In addition to Lóránt, the members of the New Eight were Anna Bartoniek, Alice Endresz, Ilona Hranitzky, Margit Muzslai Kampis, Vilma Kiss, Piroska Márton Futásfalvi and Angéla Szuly. Between 1931-1939 she also participated in each of the exhibitions of the group.
