Biography

Péter Szüle was a painter. His teachers at the Budapest Academy of Fine Arts were Tivadar Zemplényi, Károly Ferenczy and Ede Balló. He made study trips to the Netherlands, Germany, France and Italy. He initially worked in Budapest, then until 1928 he was a member of the Szolnok artist colony.

He had exhibitions in the Ernst Museum in 1923 and 1929, and in the Műcsarnok in 1924 and 1934. He painted poor people and vagrants, his pictures are in dark brown tones. Later he created nude compositions, but also captured scenes from the everyday lives of the poor peasants of Szolnok. In his later paintings he used lighter colors due to the influence of Impressionism.
