Biography

Zsolt Lengyel was born in Budapest in 1936. He is a significant, but still little-known figure in the Hungarian pop art painting that developed in the 1960s. He studied at the Budapest Academy of Fine Arts.
He was also featured in the 1966 and 1970 Studio exhibitions of the Young Artists Studio. He had his debut solo exhibition at the FMK in 1968, where he exhibited 18 oil paintings. In the late 1960s, his illustrations were published in Élet és Irodalom. In 1971, he had a joint exhibition with Győző Fáy. In the 1960s, he worked as a draftsman at the Pannónia Film Studio, where he participated in the fine arts exhibition organized there in 1962. In the early 1970s, he exhibited in Vienna, where he settled. His works can be found in European cities such as Vienna, Budapest, Florence, and Munich, among others.
