Kázmér Rónay

Biography

Painter Kázmér Rónay came from a wealthy family, his father, Kamill Rónay, was a judge and lieutenant. After graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts, where he trained with Viktor Olgyai and was his assistant for years, he traveled extensively in Europe and the Middle East. He also went on a study trip to Paris. After that, he returned home and worked in Hungary. He lived in Váci Street in the winter and spent the summers in his wooden house in Agárd. He married, but had no children. In the second half of his life, especially after 1945, he suffered greatly. In addition to his work as a painter, he worked as a teacher and gave lectures on art. He retired in 1948.
