Biography

He began his studies in 1906, at the Royal Hungarian School of Applied Arts, where he studied sculpture.The following year he enrolled in the sculpture course with Géza Maróti, and finally completed his studies with Imre Simay. After the fall of the Hungarian Soviet Republic he went to Vienna and became a member of the Wiener Werkstatte ceramics workshop. In 1925, at the instigation of Géza Maróti, he took part in the Monza Applied Arts Exhibition.  He taught at Dezső Orbán's Atelier Design and Workshop School from 1928.  In 1937 he won the gold medal at the Paris World Exhibition.  Head of Department at the Hungarian College of Applied Arts (1945-1957).
