Árpád Feszty

1856 - 1914

Biography

He studied in Munich from 1874 and in Vienna in 1880-81. He owes his popularity primarily to his panorama entitled The Arrival of the Magyars (1896) (it was badly damaged during World War II), which he painted with the help of many others. He lived in Florence between 1899-1902. The best-known of his murals are the nine pictures depicting the origin of sounds that decorate the lobby of the Opera House in Budapest. His wife was Róza Jókai.
