Biography
He started painting on the advice of Ödön Rippl-Rónai, whom he met in Kaposvár. Then he continued his studies in Nagybánya, under the guidance of painters István Réti and János Thorma. He was demobilized in 1918 and did not study any more. In 1921, he moved to Vienna, where Graphik porfolio was published. He lived in Berlin between 1923-1926, exhibited in Sturm's in 1923 and 1924. He came into contact with Lajos Kassák and his group. In the 1930s, he returned to the traditions of the Nagybánya painting school. In 1927, he moved to Pöstyén. In 1926, he became a member of the New Society of Artists. In the 1930s, he was the spiritual leader of the Gresham circle. In 1945, he became a teacher at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts. From 1930, he was a regular visitor to the Szolnok artist colony.
