Biography

In November 1930, Szabados was enrolled in István Szőnyi's painting school. The following year, he became a student of István Réti at the College of Fine Arts, after which he received a diploma as a secondary school drawing teacher. His first serious attempt was a fresco for the church of Gönc in 1935. In 1937, he successfully participated in the jubilee exhibition of the College of Fine Arts and received external recognition: he won a 600 pengl scholarship from the capital city and the Hungarian State Scholarship to Rome. His time in Rome was happy, productive and carefree. He painted many pictures of the streets, landscapes and people of Rome. After Rome he lived at home in Vecsés. He loved his parents very much, himself, and the animals around them, painting dogs, cats and chicks. He was often a soldier, taking part in the marches in the Highlands, Transylvania and the South. He also painted some pictures from his military experiences, mainly of tired soldiers resting. In 1941 he took a job as a drawing teacher in Pannonhalma. On 8 August 1942, at the age of 31, he was killed on the Russian front.
