Ida Hallósyné Nágel

Biography

During her high school years, she prepared for the drawing academy in the free painting school in Nagybánya in the summer. After graduation, she went to the College of Fine Arts, where she became a student of István Bosznay. Here she obtained a drawing and needlework teacher's certificate. Meanwhile, on April 26, 1919, she became the wife of the royal engineer Ferenc Hallóssy. On January 18, 1920, a son, Géza, was born, and on June 5, 1923, a daughter, Pálma. In addition to her duties as a housewife and mother, she attended the College of Fine Arts for a few more years, where she furthered her education under the guidance of Professor Réthy. She mainly painted portraits and landscapes of Lake Balaton. She died in 1941 during a routine operation.

 

She was mainly a painter of portraits, but she was also an excellent landscape painter, especially of Balaton, and she also artistically renovated antique pictures. She exhibited at the exhibitions of National Salon and participated in the Balaton exhibitions, she was also a member of the Association of Hungarian Women Artists.
