Biography
In 1893, he graduated from the goldsmith's department of the School of Applied Arts in Budapest, but also learned pattern making from Antal Loránfi. In 1893 he spent a few months in Vienna, then in 1894-95 he studied at the École des Beaux Art in Paris, as a pupil of Ponscarme. It won all three first prizes in the 1896 Millennium Medal competition. In 1897, he came into contact with the Jugend movement in Munich. In Munich, he got acquainted with the new spirit and technique represented by Adolf Hildebrand. During the Soviet Republic, he was the president of the artists' union, and he created the planned new 10-kroner coin.. In 1927, he was awarded the grand prize of the Merse Pál Society of Szinyei. He also worked on architectural design (Corvin Áruház, 1926). In the 1930s, he modeled several grave monuments ( Fellner monument, Baumgarten monument). He died during the siege of Budapest.
